Neutral-grip pull-ups that spare your shoulders and blast your lats.

Lead with your chest to the bar and avoid swinging or kipping for reps.
Hooking a V-bar over the pull-up bar gives you a close, neutral grip, and that changes everything about how the pull feels. Palms facing each other keeps the shoulders in a comfortable position while the lats work through a long stretch from a dead hang, and the biceps assist strongly since neutral is one of their best pulling angles. It is the pull-up variation for lifters whose wrists or shoulders complain about the standard bar.
Most people find it slightly easier, because the neutral grip lets the biceps contribute more and puts the shoulders in a stronger position. That makes it a great bridge exercise if wide-grip reps are still out of reach.
Hook the V attachment over the middle of a straight pull-up bar so both handles hang evenly, then grip with palms facing each other. Check it is seated securely before you load it with a dead hang.
Swinging robs the lats of the stretch and squeeze that make the close neutral grip worth using. Strict reps from a full hang build more back than twice as many kipped ones.
