Push big weight through your calves, standing tall.

Keep your legs straight and drive through the balls of your feet for full extension.
Pressing through the balls of your feet with straight legs puts the gastrocnemius, the bigger visible calf muscle, under full load, and the machine path lets you drop your heels below the platform for a loaded stretch you cannot safely get free standing. Dropping into that deep stretch and driving to a full toe point is what makes calves actually grow. It belongs at the heavy end of your calf work, where you can load big and still control every centimetre.
Same muscle, different setup. The press has your back supported against a pad while you push the platform, the raise loads you through shoulder pads standing tall. The press is often more comfortable for heavy sets because nothing sits on your spine.
With knees straight the gastrocnemius does the work. Bend the knees and the smaller soleus takes over, which is what seated calf work is for. Keep legs straight here and save bent-knee work for another exercise.
No. Bouncing uses the tendon spring instead of the muscle. Pause a beat in the deep stretch, then press to a full squeeze at the top.
