Send the bar overhead by splitting your feet. The strongest way to jerk big.

Punch yourself down into the split fast, the bar barely moves, you move under it.
The split jerk is how the biggest weights get overhead, because splitting the feet lets you drop under the bar instead of pressing it the full distance. The shoulders lock out and support the load at the top, the quads power the dip and drive, the triceps punch the elbows to extension, and the core keeps the trunk vertical so the bar lands stacked over your base. The front-to-back stance gives you a longer, more forgiving base than a power or squat jerk, which is exactly why it is the competition standard.
The split gives you a longer base front to back, so a bar that lands slightly forward or behind is still saveable. With a power jerk the same miss is gone. More forgiveness means more weight overhead.
Front foot far enough forward that the shin stays near vertical, back foot back with a bent knee and heel up. A split that is too short turns it into a press out, too long and you cannot recover cleanly.
Usually your dip drifted forward or your torso tipped during the drive. Dip straight down with an upright chest and think about punching yourself under the bar, not pushing the bar forward.
