Open the chest and free up a stiff shoulder.

Ease into it, use a towel between the hands if they don't meet yet.
Threading one hand up your back while the other reaches down from overhead stretches both shoulders in opposite directions at once, internal rotation below, external rotation and lat length above, while pressing the chest forward opens the front of the shoulder. Working one arm pairing at a time exposes which shoulder is the stiff one, and it usually is not close. It earns its place as a quick test-and-fix for overhead athletes and anyone who presses a lot.
It is common and fixable. Hold something between the hands to bridge the gap and walk the grip closer over weeks, forcing it in one session gains nothing.
Almost everyone has a dominant side that is tighter in one direction. Give the rough side extra time and expect the gap to close slowly rather than overnight.
Around 30 seconds per side with steady breathing. Ease in on the exhale, this stretch responds to patience, not force.
